How long can Frogs go without food
I’ve heard round two weeks (don’t know how accurate) as long as they always have fresh water.
It would probably depend on several factors – weight of the frogs, their age (juvenilles need food available at all times, adults don’t eat as often), type of frog, etc..
Where can I release froglets
You have froglets! Lower the water level and provide a stony beach for them to sit on or they’ll drown because they need to breathe air. When they’re ready to disperse, they’ll climb the walls at night. Release them in damp grass by their native pond.
Can frogs bond with humans
Affection no but like others said they do associate you with food and I like to think they develop a bond with you. They go from skittish and jumpy when you first interact with them to just kinda like “what up you got crickets?” Thats my favorite part.
Will tadpoles eat each other
A tadpole feeding on tadpole meat. … Though seemingly docile creatures, tadpoles can get snippy when hungry, and sometimes end up eating each other when the stakes are high. Now, new research suggests that the tiny creatures are not ruthless cannibals, but rather only eat their pond-mates when resources are scarce.
Can frogs find their way back home
Beside above, can frogs find their way back home? No! Moving them far away will cause them undue stress when they have to find new hibernation, breeding, and foraging grounds, all while trying to find adequate hiding places from predators, and trying to find their way back home.
Can Tadpoles eat cucumber
Tadpoles start out as algae eaters – so they are plant feeders. … However, it’s not needed – the easiest form of tadpole food is a slice of cucumber – slice the cucumber and then remove the outside so that your tadpoles have access to the soft inner layers of the cucumber and let it float on the surface.
What should I feed tadpoles
Feeding. Tadpoles will eat greens including lettuce (not cos or iceberg), broccoli, or baby spinach. It is best to rinse and freeze these before feeding. Be careful that the water does not become fouled from overfeeding, so only add food once the previous meal has vanished – usually twice daily is good.
What can I feed a wild frog
Frogs eat living insects and worms. They will not eat dead insects because they hunt based on movement of the prey. You can feed your frog crickets, mealworms or earthworms from the pet shop. Or you can collect your own insects like moths, sowbugs, flies or caterpillars.
Why are my tadpoles dying
The death of tadpoles is often related to a lack of oxygen in the water, usually caused by a sudden algal bloom. If there has been some warm weather and the water has turned green, this indicates that there is a lot of algae growing in the water.
Can Tadpoles eat bread crumbs
Yes, tadpoles eat bread crumbs, but this does not mean that they should be fed them. Bread crumbs have little nutritional value, are not naturally found in the wild, and are not compatible with their digestive tract.
Can Tadpoles eat cabbage
Feeding. Feed the tadpoles twice a day. Each tadpole should be given two tablespoons of fresh boiled spinach or lettuce (not cabbage). Although tadpoles naturally eat algae, this may be hard to get regularly and may introduce unexpected animals.
What does it mean when you have a lot of frogs in your yard
Having multiple frogs in your yard or garden suggests that something is attracting them. In some cases, these attractants are wanted features, such as a pond. In other cases, the frogs are attracted by something equally unwanted — they’re finding plenty of food.
Can you take frogs from the wild

Can wild frogs live in captivity
*Wild-caught frogs can be very dangerous. They don’t adapt well to captivity and they can be dangerous. If you want a frog, please, seek out a local breeder or pet store!
Why are my tadpoles not turning into frogs
In general the main factors are: If the water in the pond is too cold due to cold weather or being in the shade, this can slow down the rate of development. A lack of algae, which is tadpoles’ food source, is an obvious limiting factor. … Often ponds in spring are heaving with tadpoles.
Do frogs come back to the same pond every year
Answer. Amphibians tend to return to the same pond each year – it’s likely there used to be a pond present which the animals are looking for. Amphibians migrate to ponds in spring, often returning to areas where they spawned in previous years.
How far do Frogs travel
SEATTLE – They’re burrowed under snow and leaf litter, and tucked deep beneath the bases of sword ferns, waiting out deep winter after migrating as long as three miles to get to their home forests — a nearly heroic journey, when it’s traveled one hop at time.
Where do frogs go during the day
They sleep during the heat of the day, buried underground or tucked under damp, rotting wood or large stones. Sunlight can dehydrate toads quickly, so venturing out during the night is safer. They return to their burrows to sleep before the sun rises — though you might see some in daytime during breeding season.
How do you know if a frog is dying
The dying and dead frogs may or may not have obvious external symptoms (e.g. discoloured skin, ulcers, bleeding) but may appear lethargic and disorientated, particularly in and around the edges of ponds.
